The backplate with the turn snib (on the left) goes on the inside of a bathroom door and the one with the slot goes on the outside. The slot is designed as an emergency release, opened with a screwdriver should someone be locked inside or is incapable of opening it themselves due to a medical emergency.
To be used with a privacy mortise lock or privacy bolt as recommended below.
