FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS.
What is "backset" when discussing door hardware?
A backset is the distance from the edge/face of the door to either the centre of the spindle hole of an existing door or the same from the edge of either a lock or tube latch to the centre of the spindle hole. there are 3 main sizes, 45mm, 60mm (most common) and 70mm. Probably would have been better described as the "setback".
CARE and PROTECTION of Brass and Iron Hardware.
We recommend using either Mr Sheen or Pledge furniture polish sprayed onto a cloth and rubbed in which cleans and protects. It is advisable to do so on a regular basis to ensure a long lasting finish.
Will my hardware rust?
Our brass based products should last well especially if the above care instructions are followed. Iron based products should be placed carefully with consideration given to the environment they are going into. An iron draw pull on a cupboard under a sink and providing access to a rubbish bin would be a potential red flag. Again, the risk can be mitigated by following ate care instructions, however this is no guarantee.
